What to Ask

Questions to ask when hiring an HVAC cleaner

Question 1: Are they a NADCA certified company?

We are. We have been members of NADCA for over 14 years and are one of its oldest members in California. Why is that important? NADCA is the only organization approved by the EPA to set the standards for HVAC cleaning. If they aren’t members of NADCA, they probably shouldn’t be cleaning your system.

Question 2: Do they clean the entire system, including all the equipment?

Cleaning the duct work without cleaning the equipment is like getting an oil change, but only changing half of the oil. As soon as you turn on your system, everything gets re-contaminated. That’s simply a waste of money. Make sure the price you get is for cleaning the entire HVAC system including all the equipment.

Question 3: Are they using a truck mounted Power Vacuum that moves 16,000 cubic feet of air per minute?

Shop vacuums and portable units just don’t have the power to do the job right. Without the proper suction, the system will not get clean because it doesn’t have enough power to pull everything out. Truck mounted power vacuums are the best way to achieve the 16,000 cfm needed to clean the system thoroughly. Match that with high pressure air, to agitate the system and you have a truly powerful combination that doesn’t wreck your duct work.

Question 4: How long have they been cleaning HVAC systems?

Experience is important when it comes to cleaning HVAC systems. Without experience, very costly mistakes can be made. We have the know-how to get the job done right the first time. We have been cleaning homes and businesses just like yours for over 35 years. Can you trust anyone with less?

Question 5: Do they have a NADCA Certified Ventilation Inspector on staff?

Only NADCA Certified Ventilation Inspectors(CVIs) have the training and expertise to properly inspect and diagnose a system for indoor air quality issues.

Question 6: Do they specialize in source removal of smoke, mold, water, particulate and contaminants?

Source removal methods are the most effective ways to clean HVAC systems. If they are not removing the source of the contamination, then the problem will return.

Question 7: Can they provide photo/video documentation before and after the system is cleaned?

At the end of the day, if it’s not documented with clear before and after evidence, how can you know if a good job was done. We provide the proof that provides peace of mind and value for your money.

Question 8: Are they a mechanical contractor?

We are. In fact, if you are an HVAC company without a standard C20 mechanical license, one might question why they don’t have one. Do they not want one or will the State not allow them to have one. In either case, no one should touch your system without one.

Question 9: Are they an A+ member of the Better Business Bureau?

Only the best of the best are Accredited A+ businesses with the BBB. We work very hard for our customers every day to maintain this highest of standards.

Question 10: Are they a local, family-owned small business?

Support your local economy by hiring a local company. Every customer is special when the business is owned and run by family. Let us show you how good our family takes care of yours.
